NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma College of Law and the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) have collaborated to establish a new internship opportunity in the field of international human rights at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.
According to the organization’s website, “The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a unique process which involves a periodic review of the human rights records of all 193 United Nations Member States. The UPR is a significant innovation of the Human Rights Council, which is based on equal treatment for all countries.”
OU Law students participating in this internship will be deeply involved in the UPR process and will gain firsthand experience and insight into the operations of a small non-governmental organization. They will manage the organization’s website in English, French and Spanish, uploading documents and producing analysis on the UPR. The intern will also monitor Human Rights Council sessions and UPR sessions at the United Nations. The full-time internship requires 40 hours of work per week for three months in Geneva, Switzerland.
