OU College of Law alumna Veronica Jacob ('15) represented the University of Oklahoma, along with members of the College of Journalism, at the State Department’s first annual Diplomacy Lab Fair and Wonk Tank competition earlier this month. Diplomacy Lab is a State Department program in which students and faculty answer questions posed by Department officials and brief them throughout the semester. More information can be found here.
This year, participating universities nationwide were invited to Washington D.C. to present their research to State Department officials. OU serves as the Secretariat for the Diplomacy Lab program. In the Spring of 2014, Veronica participated in OU Law Professor Evelyn Aswad’s Diplomacy Lab class involving legal reform in Arab Spring countries and she now serves as the Coordinator for the Secretariat. The Fair also featured the first Wonk Tank competition, a State Department program in which students pitch foreign policy proposals to State Department officials (much like the show ‘Shark Tank’).
More information on the event can be found here.
